Tea and the Tate...and Alice

I was reading about the Alice in Wonderland exhibit at the Tate/Liverpool - opening Nov. 4th - and it reminded me of this odd little Mad Hatter's hat I made about 10 years ago so I went off on a search through my closet to find it. I based it loosely on a design by the extraordinary London based milliner, Stephen Jones. His was tall and striped and attached to a turban. Fantastic.

The exhibit at the Tate/Liverpool will have Lewis Carroll's original manuscript (1864), his photographic portraits of the Liddell family and others from the Victorian era, Victorian children's games, wallpaper and textile design, and 20th century moving images - even some of Disney's first animated films.

A special section will be devoted to Surrealists who were inspired by the book - and Pop Artists, too.

Me - Central Park - 1960 (I think.)

Tea and the Tate sounds like a great way to spend a rainy afternoon in Liverpool.

From Fri. November 4 thru Sun. January 29, 2012

Everything in this post is gorgeous, the news great (makes me want to travel to Liverpool!), but the picture of little you is outstanding. So lovely!

What a very sweet picture of you! And I always love how you frame your creations in your photos! I've tried and it turns out looking like a ten year old was at work in my space. (Thus I frame with landscape.) And your creations, so gorgeous as well. I treasure the one you sent me. You have such gifts!
Bisous,
Kirsten
