Little Wreaths

A round of berries in shades of red encircles an old print of the Madonna and Child. Originally meant to surround a candle, I reappropriated it to hang as a wreath on an old screen shutter. The wreath is bordered on each side by large red-velvet acanthus leaves. Behind the shutter: a curtain of French-inspired fabric with bows and baskets of flowers gives it an old world charm.

For a white bedroom - an entirely different feel: silver branches with scattered pale pink sequins and a sparkly bird hangs from an organza ribbon over a long, narrow mirror with aged print on top. Below it sits a small silver Christmas tree, which photographically was beyond my expertise!

Happy Decorating

Well, your pictures got me. Wasn't really in the decorating mood yet, but now am getting itchy :) Red always moves me, especially in December. And brown too, as in chocolate. I am enjoying your photos very much, Catherine, thank you!! Happy December, Monika

I think your repurposing the candle wreath is so much better than its intended use. All of those red greens and burgundies are so beautiful together. I love Christmas!

I can hardly wait to start decorating. We have been house cleaning, getting ready for our guests in December. I have been cleaning and tidying my studio as well, that is almost finished. The decorating will start soon!

I love both but I am in a silver-y sparkly mood. Cleaning up & de-cluttering like someone else mentioned. I wanted to start & it was too dusty & shabby to decorate *upon*.I depend on others to help me get stuff out of here. But I did buy a very fluffy pink poinsettia (it was even local!) at the market for my desk. That'll hold me until I can get things straight. But you just inspired me to get with it. xoxo

As usual, your flair for beauty is magnifique! Will be traveling this holiday season so won't be decorating until in Paris. But can enjoy sharing yours.
