I set out on Saturday morning to find some grapevine to wrap into a tree shape and cover with moss and...surprise of surprises...found one already to go...and potted, too. All I needed to do was add the sheet moss and the old framed print with velvet ribbon. I seem to have a thing for small trees...this is one of four.
Clove-studded clementines are always a sign of the season for me. In NYC I used to hang them from ribbons in my window that looked out over W.73rd St. Now I use pretty cordial glasses as stands and fill them with silver dragees for extra sparkle. My grandmother's candy dish holds orange and rose hip scented Agraria - another holiday tradition for me. When I'm sitting there I remove the lid...it's heaven.
My little stuffed Grinch never makes an appearance until all the decorating is done. He has the best seat in the house all season - not that he deserves it.
It's freezing here today - a "stay in your pajamas kind of day", which is what I'm planning on doing. I'm going to light the fire and read...reading John Steinbeck's, Cannery Row.
My crocus' are coming up slowly...reminding me to be patient. There's a new photo of their progress on my sidebar but I don't think they look too much different from last week. Like I said, they're coming up slooowly.
Hope your week is a good one.

What a lovely scene you've set for us...I so wish we could hang out...a fire. Julie would be in heaven & so would I. I have to dust & sweep the floors before I break out the decoration boxes. In fact, I think I will take a break & do so right now.

How lovely this is...it looks just like a painting.
Such opulence Catherine - just glorious.
Enjoy your week. Francesca
I love the idea of the clementines in the little glasses. I have a bigger stuffed grinch..If I could just find my christas tree I would feel better. It's lost in that neverever land of a basement.♥
So rich and glowing...and the clementines make me happy to see. I have cloves and oranges and clementines on my shopping list for later in the week and am very much looking forward to making some of my own.
Thank you for the lovely glimpse...
Lesley
I too love little trees for small corners. They always delight! Best wishes for a happy holiday season Catherine.
