An antique ornament becomes a necklace...maybe for a party at Miss Havesham's. I won't really be wearing it, but I love the way it looks against the black velvet display and tied with a satin ribbon. It sits in my bedroom.
Today is a baking day - round one...2 batches of cookies, one for me and one for him. We're cookie incompatible...well, I like his...I like everybody's...but he's never that crazy about mine. I love walnuts - he hates them - that sort of thing. Something to consider if you're planning on spending your life with someone. It's alot less work if you're cookie-compatible. Ha!
A busy weekend. Have a good one.

Good evening, Catherine!
Your cookie incompatibility made me smile. Will you spill the secret about which cookies will be served in your home? Instead of being good and baking, I granted myself an extended lunch hour and took the metro to Heiligenstadt. i walked in Beethoven's steps instead of turning out vanilla crescents. ;-
A wonderful weekend to you,
Merisi
That is so lovely...an excellent example of bricolage from one of my favorite bricoleuses.
Love walnuts. I wonder which recipe you're making. Perhaps you will photograph the platter of cookies?
xoxo
Susan and Merisi - Taking a moment while the butter is softening. Yes, I will photograph them for my next post. In between batches I'm making Julia Child's Leek and Potato soup which is always a favorite around here, no matter what the season. Vanilla crescents are in the cards for later in the month, too.

Love how you work with ribbon and jewelry Catherine, as you may know they are both weaknesses of mine. Enjoy your cookies and I am making carrot cakes tonight............though I do omit the walnuts for the ones who don't like them. Xo
Sande - Then you must be heaven in the jewelry departments...ribbons with jewelry have been so popular for years now. So pretty in place of a chain...And I LOVE carrot cake!

How I love your necklace! I remember wearing ornaments as earrings with a big updo...Who says the tree has to have all the bling!? I hope your season is full of joy Catherine ...I too have cookies on my mind...and my thighs! Do some baking for me :)
Have a wonderful weekend,
nathalie
Just perfect. Francesca x
The necklace is exquisite - a piece of jewellery I would love to wear;-)
Now I know you are busy in the kitchen baking - might I call round for cookies?
I've found at my house, it's better if we're not cookie compatible. If he likes them, they're gone. But there is the downside to that as well. I hid the last few of my favorite special treats my sister brought me from Paris on her last visit and then forgot about them and now they're not good to either of us. Neither of us were happy about that. Another good lesson on why it's best to share! ;~>
